Young Llama Farmers

Llama farming in the Andes is a family activity, and as the popular saying goes, children are the future… so we continuously work to integrate the young llama farmers, who will one day inherit the project, to be active participants in many of our activities, specially in our Education for Conservation Program, and put special effort in helping them feel proud of their traditions and their llamas.

Young Llama Farmers Went on Their Prom Trip

Thanks to the kind contribution of visitors and project supporters the young children graduating from primary school in 2018 and 2019 had a once in a lifetime opportunity to leave their town for the first time ever, to explore the beach, Cusco city and museums. This learning adventure has provided them with a life-changing motivation of their worth and made them proud of preserving their llama breeding traditions! Supporting activities that help the children meet their own milestones and realize that a better future is possible is fundamental to our work because hope and pride are the base values for the project’s success. These children are the future caretakers of our mountains, thank you for having helped us reach the goal for their dream to come true!

Llama Storybook for Children

After much longing, our first copies of this illustrated storybook promoting llamas and their importance for conservation have arrived!! This story has been written in three languages: Quechua (the native language of the Andes), Spanish and English. Although the process has taken much, much longer than expected we have learned many lessons in the process and are extremely happy to finally have it materialized thanks to the collaboration of many people who contributed with their expertise and to many kind donors who have made it possible. We can’t wait to see the children’s faces when they receive their copy!!
