Llama Pack Project Succeeds in GlobalGiving’s Accelerator, Becomes Recognized Partner of GlobalGiving
(July 1, 2020) Llama Pack Project announced today that they have graduated from the GlobalGiving Accelerator program, gaining entry into the GlobalGiving marketplace and becoming a recognized partner of GlobalGiving. As part of the Accelerator, Llama Pack Project successfully raised $16,154 from 121 unique individual donors to support their project, “Help 85+ llama farmers in Peru access fair work.”
“We’re thrilled to have Llama Pack Project as part of our community. Llama Pack Project has met our rigorous vetting standards for trust and community support, and we’re committed to providing tools, training, and support as they learn, grow and become more effective,” said Alix Guerrier, CEO of GlobalGiving. “GlobalGiving donors value the opportunity to support nonprofits like Llama Pack Project, knowing that they’ll get regular updates about how their donations are put to work.”
“Through multiple 2-day intensive trainings, men and women llama farmers from 8 Andean communities living in extreme poverty, will gain the skills to provide sustainable eco-friendly pack services with their llamas to tour operators which operate in their communities and demand pack services to transport camping materials but have systematically marginalized the local population due to their lack of training in tourism services. Trainees will then share gained skills in their communities.”, said Alejandra Arias-Stella, project leader at Llama Pack Project. “Visit our project, ‘Help 85+ llama farmers in Peru access fair work’ to learn how even $10 can make a difference: http://goto.gg/46877. We’re $0 away from our overall goal of $15,000.” All extra funds received beyond their goal will continue to channel their mission for the inclusion of Andean llama farmers in the benefits of the tourism industry and the promotion of use of native pack animals – llamas- to protect the fragile mountain ecosystems of the Urubamba Mountain Range.
