Visit Contribution Fees

Please read before booking: Reservation, payment and cancellation policies.

Availability and acclimatization: Reservations must be made at least one week in advance. Due to the rainy season there will be no visits from mid December to mid March. We suggest visitors have been in the altitude at least 2 days before a half day or full day visit.

Private visits: Visits are NOT private unless requested at time of booking and have an additional fee.  The visit itinerary cannot be modified.

Reservation, payment and cancellation policies: To confirm a reservation 50% of the total must be paid at the time of booking. The remaining 50% must be paid at least 48 hours before the reservation date.

Cancellation by visitors: In the case of cancellation within 48 hours prior to the reservation date or NO SHOW by one or more participants, the total amount of the service will be charged. In case of delay, there will be a 15 minute tolerance before starting the activity if there are more visitors. NO SHOW will be considered upon completion of one hour of delay. In case of cancellation during the activity due to illness or accident, the evacuation procedure will be followed. If necessary, the remaining activity will be canceled or modified, and the total amount of the service will be charged.

Cancellation by the Llama Pack Team: The Llama Pack Team can request a cancellation within 48 hours prior to the reservation date if a risk situation is foreseen for either the passengers or the team. Possible situations of risk are: 1. Adverse weather conditions. 2. Strike announcements. In case of cancellation by the Llama Pack Team, the group can choose to modify their visit date (subject to availability) or request a full refund.

Change of activity: The Llama Pack Team may request a last-minute change of activity if an unexpected event arises in the community in which members of the Guild of Llama Breeders must stay at their community to solve the situation, keeping them from arriving on time or receiving visitors in their community.

In the event that the Llama Pack Team requests a change of activity, the group can accept the alternative activity and be exempted from the second payment or cancel the activity and receive a full refund.

Alternative activity for half day and full day visits: Visitors will receive the Llama Pack Project presentation in the Base Camp and will walk with a team member to release (or pick up according to the time) the female llamas and their crias to their grazing area. The duration of this activity is approximately 1 – 1.5 hours.

Impossibility of having the llamas: When there are adverse weather conditions in the areas where the llamas are kept, it is possible that the members of the Guild of Llama Breeders are unable to gather their llamas or arrive at the starting point of the activity.

If this happens, the Llama Pack Team will evaluate the possibility of continuing with the rest of the itinerary. If it is possible to continue with the activities and the passenger accepts, the total amount of the service will be charged. If the Llama Pack Team decides that it is necessary to cancel the rest of the itinerary or if the passenger decides not to continue, 50% of the total will be refunded. Payment made to confirm the reservation is not refundable.

Thank-you note: The visits are an organized event that require prior coordination with members of the Guild of Llama Breeders within extensive geographical territories with limited road access and telephone signal.

We have strict cancellation policies given that, bin the event of any of the eventualities described above, there would be no way to communicate about the cancellation to the Guild members and they would have woken up at dawn to bring their animals to the starting point. This also implies that they will have left the rest of their animals and crops unattended or hired someone to care for them during the rest of the day regardless of the cancellation.

The pre-coordination activities by our team are also arduous. Their efforts are recognized and paid, even if the activities are canceled, as it is fair and it is the only way to keep the team and families motivated to continue working with their llamas and achieving the long-term project goals. As a social and environmental project, we focus on providing training and work opportunities to families that are usually left aside by the tourism industry due to the logistical difficulties mentioned.
