Trek Description

Enjoy a leisurely walk within the picturesque natural surroundings of Urubamba in company of the llamas. Your mission will be to take them out to their grazing spot while you learn all about this noble and native eco-friendly animal.

Before you start your trek you will be introduced to the Llama Pack Project, then the llamas will be gathered and your hike will start. After a 40-minute walk uphill at slow pace, you will reach the perfect spot to enjoy an outdoor picnic while you relax and enjoy the panoramic views and the Valley’s fresh air. After this nice rest, you will leave the llamas and return walking downhill to the starting point.



  • Difficulty: Easy – Moderate.
  • Start time: Morning: 9 a.m. / Afternoon: 2 p.m.
  • Duration: 3 – 4 hours.
  • Activity: Distance covered: 1.5 k.m. / Altitude gained: 2700 – 2900 m.a.s.l. / Trekking hours: 1.5
  • Starting/Ending point: La Pastura de Llama Pack, Quebrada Pumahuanca, Urubamba. (15 min. away from downtown Urubamba by ground transportation.)

Snack: Fruit, chocolate, water.
Brunch: Fruit salad, three sandwich types, cake and cookies, juice and infusions.


Bring a lightweight personal backpack with drinking water, mosquito repellant, sunscreen, any personal, cash for tips and your camera.

Wear comfortable clothes: Fresh long sleeved shirt, long pants, closed trekking shoes, socks, hat, sunglasses, extra jacket for fresh breeze, and rainproof clothes.
