Cancellation by Llama Pack Team:

Llama Pack Team may request a cancellation if a situation of risk is suspected for either visitors or Llama Pack Team members.

Situations of possible risk are:

  1. Adverse weather conditions.
  2. Announced local strikes.

In the case of a cancellation by the Llama Pack Team the group may choose to modify their visit date or request reimbursement of the second payment. Payment done to confirm a reservation may not be reimbursed.

Change of plans for Half Day and Full Day visits by Llama Pack Team:

Llama Pack Team may request a last minute change of plans if an unexpected situation occurs.

Situations that lead to change of plans:

  1. Llama farmers are unable to gather their llamas and arrive to the starting point of the activity. (This can happen due to adverse weather conditions in high-Andean communities were llamas are kept.)
  2. Situation of community conflict or unexpected events where llama farmers have to participate in order to solve a situation and are unable to arrive or host visitors in their community.

In the case of a change of plans by the Llama Pack Team the group may choose to accept the alternative activity and be exonerated from the second 50% payment, or cancel the activity and receive full reimbursement.

Alternative Activity for Half Day Visit and Full Day Nature Visit:

Visitors will receive the Llama Pack Project induction and walk with a member of the Llama Pack Team to lead the female llamas with their crias out to the grazing spot. The duration of the activity is approximately 1 hour.

Alternative Activity for Full Day Community Visit

If community visit is not an option, visitors may choose to take the Half Day Alternative Activity mentioned above.

Thank You Note:

Your visit is an organized event that requires previous coordination with members of the Local Guild of Llama Breeders, within extensive geographic territory that has limited road access and phone signal.

We have a strict cancellation policy because if any of the mentioned problems were to happen there would be no way from our side to alert the community members and they would still have woken up at 3 or 4 am to gather their llamas and hike down from their communities to get to the meeting point of the activity. This also means they will leave their animals and crops unattended or have hired someone to look out for them for the day even if the visit is cancelled.

Their efforts are recognized and paid as this is fair and is the only way to keep families motivated to keep working with their llamas and achieve the project long term goals. As a social and environmental project we focus on providing training and work opportunities to families usually left aside by the tourism industry because of the logistic difficulties mentioned above.

Thank you for your comprehension.
