Day Excursion Descriptions

We have created the full day excursions to allow families from more remote areas of the Urubamba mountain range to be able to work with their llamas to preserve local conservation areas, generate sustainable income and strengthen the Llama Pack Project reach.

These excursions are ideal for travelers that really would like to visit and contribute to a high-Andean community but do not feel like trekking for so many hours. Since communities in the Andes are quite remote, you will spend a longer time in ground transportation and then have a shorter trek experience with the advantage of having access to spectacular locations and benefitting local families.

Each community has created their own Guild of Llama Breeders so that work is distributed by turns and in a fair manner that benefits all families involved. For this reason, if you choose to join an excursion, you will be assigned one of the treks within the list, according to who’s turn it is to provide the Llama Trek service. All trek options have been designed so that the difficulty levels are similar and the experience is equally authentic and gorgeous on any assigned route. If you prefer to book a specific excursion, you will be able to indicate your preference in the booking form.
